I walked past a house having a yard sale in the Belgian town of Bastogne. The combination of elements - American flag, lion and roses - struck me strongly enough to take this photograph. As an American, visiting Bastogne is a strong reminder of the sacrifice that the soldiers made to destroy Nazism. All these years later, it’s clear that the Belgians continue to honor that sacrifice.
