current project:

I'm currently photographing the remaining vestiges of the German Democratic Republic on the 30th anniversary of German reunification. I'm shooting the project on film that expired in the same year as the GDR with cameras and lenses made in East German factories. Through this approach I'm attempting to document what's left of the socialist Germany. Both the subjects and the film used to capture them have aged thirty years, performing a duet of historical sepsis triggered by reunification and exacerbated by an increasingly globally-focused Germany.

While this year's pandemic has slowed the progress of the project, I've still been able to photograph in Berlin, Halle, and the Brandenburg cities of Frankfurt Oder and Eisenhüttenstadt. Additional locations will be visited in 2020 and 2021.
