Documenting the diversity of traditional European clothing
The photography project "Sun Behind the Trees" explores the beauty and diversity of traditional clothing worn by people from various regions of Europe as well as their local customs of expression such as dance and instrumentation. Through portraits, I aim to capture the unique cultural heritage and significance of these garments, which have been passed down through generations and continue to hold great value to the wearers.
My interest in this subject arose from a desire to celebrate the cultural richness and diversity of Europe, and to highlight the importance of preserving these customs and traditions. I believe that traditional clothing is not only an expression of one's identity and cultural belonging, but also a reflection of the collective history and values of a community.
In each portrait, I strive to capture the individuality and personality of the subject, while also showcasing the intricate details and craftsmanship of their clothing. By focusing on the faces and expressions of the subjects, I hope to convey the emotional connection they have to their heritage and traditional dress.
Through this project, I aim to promote greater understanding and appreciation for the cultural diversity of Europe and to inspire a sense of pride and connection to one's heritage. I hope that these portraits will serve as a visual reminder of the value and beauty of traditional clothing, and encourage future generations to continue to honor and preserve these customs.
